What's happening in Religious Education?
Nursery will be available during worship for ages 0-4. This winter we learned all about nature and environmental justice. Starting this Spring, we will be starting a unit on Banned Books. Why are books banned, and what can we learn from banned books? Is banning books a bad thing, or are there reasons we might want to ban a book? |

Harrisburg, PA March 19th – This morning three activists with Pennsylvania Action on Climate (PAC) were arrested in the State Capitol for attempting to meet with Governor Shapiro in his office, and read him a statement created by Pennsylvania Action Climate that demands he stop indirectly taking bribes from the fossil fuel industry. A group of over 25 activists went to Shapiro’s office on the second floor, only to find the Governor’s doors shut with a heavy police presence in front of it and were told by police the floor was closed to those without an appointment.
The protestors explained to police officers that they have attempted to meet with Shapiro’s office several times, both in person and online, and have been repeatedly denied meetings and ignored by Shapiro’s administration.

Pennsylvania Action on Climate is a group of anti-corruption, and climate activists, who disrupt pay-to-play politics at campaign fundraisers, public offices, and any place where money meets politics to ecologically devastate Pennsylvania.
Reverend Tim Seitz Brown, another one of the arrested activists said “I am frustrated of being told to go through the right channels. I’ve tried setting up an appointment. That’s why I came here to meet with my Governor at his office, only to find heavy police presence and to be told I had to leave. I have no choice, that’s why I got arrested. We’re tired of governance by money. We’re sick and tired of legislators who spend their time with lobbyists and not the people. It hurts us. We’re tired of it. We’re tired of cancer clusters across the state. We’re tired of poisoned land, poisoned air, poisoned water”.

Individuals traveled from all parts of the state to demand Shapiro stop indirectly taking fossil fuel industry campaign contributions and gifts through intermediaries like the Democratic Governors Association and Team Pennsylvania.
“We are constituents. We deserve to meet with our Governor. We’ve tried to meet with his office countless times. Last time we were here at the Climate Convergence, Shapiro was nowhere to be seen. We filled out a form to meet with his office, and we still haven’t heard back. We’re tired of being ignored. We’re tired of our communities suffering while Shapiro continues protecting fossil fuel interests. That’s why we’re here. Shapiro needs to stop taking bribes from the industry that’s killing us.” said PAC activist Rachael “Renzy” Neffshade, one of the three activists arrested, who lives in Western Pennsylvania near one of the most heavily fracked counties.
